With a research Masters degree in the Battle of the Somme, Alex is an historian who believes empathy and enthusiasm are equally important. She's been involved in many documentaries on military and maritime history, and is also a co-founder of the Great War Group. As a prolific author on the First World War, Alex loves getting into the detail - researching the parts of history that others gloss over - and likes nothing more than taking groups of people off the beaten track.

Owen's been sharing his enthusiasm for learning about the past for years. His own travels have taken him the world over, exploring various sites connected to both the First World War and Second World War - and he always wants to go back! Owen's also our guru and tour manager in Jordan this year, where his previous experience on the ground makes sure he can be both a bringer of joy and wrangler of all things to do with dotting the i's and crossing the t's.

We think Peter's strength is his attention to well-researched detail, combined with a seemingly endless supply of enthusiasm for the subject in hand. He spent more than thirty years compiling oral history for the Imperial War Museum and is a renowned author, having published many books about the First and Second World Wars. We can all testify that his particular passion involves force-marching guests around the Gallipoli peninsula to highlight the absolute idiocy of the campaign.

Dan will make his guide debut for Istoria in Italy in 2024. His passion is ancient history's especially Rome, and once he gets started, we can't shut him up. Rest assured, you'll always be able to spot him by his kilt!
